US President Donald Trump has appeared to make light of Russian election interference during a meeting with the country's leader, Vladimir Putin.
A smirking Mr Trump wagged his finger at the Russian president and said: "Don't meddle in the election, please."
The pair were holding talks on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Japan.
It was their first meeting since Robert Mueller concluded his investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election.
US intelligence agencies concluded that Russia was behind an effort to influence the presidential election with a state-authorised campaign of cyber-attacks and fake news stories planted on social media.
But special counsel Mueller's report found no evidence that the Trump campaign criminally conspired with Russia to influence the election.

And that's all it was was a quick buck scheme by the Russians exploiting Facebooks crummy operation. The Russian posts had zero to do with "influencing" the election. I defy anyone to make any coherent sense of what influence these ads could have had, especially when many of them ran *after* the election.
Mueller and his corrupt gang of Clinton supporters latched on the Russian ads and attempted to "repurpose" them as somehow pivotal in the election. $100K worth of junk ads on Facebook. Good grief, what a sham.
WHAT??!! He didn’t tell Putin that he’d have more flexibility after the election?
Oh man. He should say that over an open mike just to tweek the Fake News.
Yep, haven’t seen any proof of Russian interference. It’s all a big lie. The 0bammy faked these accusations trying to elect Hillary and destroy Trump. So many people should be in jail by now.
At some point about four months after the election....some university professor went and did a study. What he found was...the vast majority of people are unable to remember news stories that they read via social media. From what I read, the ‘stick-to-memory’ time is roughly three to five days. By the tenth day....most people don’t remember the story. So the value of news via social media is remarkably limited.
Liberals and Russophobia neocons demand Mueller probe II.
British fabrication, not Russian.
“Russia didnt influence the 2016 election in any way whatsoever. Its a lie.”
I humbly disagree. They did by helping Hillary.
BBC fake news across the pond
“Facebook has avoided telling the rest of the story”
That’s precisely what a lie of omission is. And there are a lot of those told.
Seems to me that the complete take-over of public education by the socialists/communists, especially in colleges and universities would be of much greater concern. Young people have been brainwashed and few seem to care. These radical lefties are all the result of the propaganda in America’s own education system....and they’re being well paid for their work!
Trump should have told Putin "After my election I have more flexibility".
That would have sent them into orbit.
Im not crazy about it but it is not nearly as the early sentence starting smirking would have us believe.
First off, someone asked him if he would tell Russia not to meddle right in front of Putin. So he very low-key said that to Putin twice. The second time he vaguely raised his hand. No major wagging at all which would imply heavy schtick.
And Putin responded, “Tell that to Google, Twitter, Facebook...”
You’re absolutely correct.
What’s Trump supposed to do? Not meet or talk with other world leaders now? Give me a friggn break!
too much BS in those excerpts to bother commenting further.
Putin paid what was it $160,000 to Zuckerberg so he could meddle ,LOL
