Hey being 1000’ or so deep didn’t seem so bad at the time. Guys I knew from high school were humping in the boonies. I grew up in the heat and humidity of Missouri but crawling in the mud and living with rain beating on you seemed a more aggravating condition than what my recruiter told me I’d be living. Besides my old man was 82nd airborne. Told me that sucked, the old guys I was working with were in WWII and said it didn’t matter my girl friend would be just like I left her. Freshly ahh, never mind I still wouldn’t vote for me.
