>He intentionally defrauded the federal government,”
Defrauded? The system was setup as such and he did everything by the book. How exactly is THAT ‘defrauding’??
2nd, suppose they change it to ‘assets’ vs. ‘income’. Why do I doubt they’d NEVER count # cars (Bluebook value??), the O’phones, # of gaming consoles, let alone the $$$ received by all of the possible taxpayer theft (aka ‘welfare’), when tallying-up. Plus, how often would they audit/update the same? Yearly.
Our ‘poor’ don’t fit the definition, but us tax-paying, Rights trampled, economic slaves sure DO.
I know of a young man here, who was in somewhat dire straits. He applied for, and received the Food Share and medicaid easily. However, they were quite strict in what he needed to provide in order to qualify. They also require you to let them know when circumstances change. I was helping him with all of this. He found a job and contacted them immediately. He was removed on the next processing date.
Here, in Wisconsin, maybe there is not the push to keep them on the rolls?
