If he knew beforehand that saying hello to the Russian ambassador was going to be a big deal, he probably wouldn't have taken the job in the administration, but who seriously thought that at the time?
Yup. I too believe Seesions was afraid because of his Russian contacts. So he both recused himself AND stayed on.
Both of those things helped the Deep State.
