South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg was confronted by a group of protesters in his own hometown Friday following the fatal police shooting of a black man by South Bend police early Sunday morning.
Police Sgt. Ryan O’Neill claimed he fired his weapon when Eric Logan, 54, approached him with a knife and refused to drop it after being confronted vandalizing a car parked at an apartment complex. Logan was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
No camera footage or witnesses exist of the incident, which has stirred up racial tensions in the area because the officer is white and Logan is black. Buttigieg canceled several campaign events, including a fish fry he was supposed to attend Friday, to deal with the issue.

Democrats have stirred up racial divisions to the point any action by a white policeman with respect to a black suspect is subject to political vendetta no matter the facts and evidence. When the black community becomes enraged, investigations and due process for the policeman are thrown out the window in order to placate the community.
Mayor Pete is learning the lesson of accountability. As elected mayor of a city his obligation is to see the rule of law administered. As a social justice warrior wannabe and candidate for the leftist party’s nomination for president he must pander to the mob. He is in a no win situation created by his party’s current and past practice of allowing the political situation of the moment to define how or if the law is going to be applied in a particular situation. To his credit Pete seems to reluctantly be doing his job as mayor.
Despite the gay credentials he publicly flaunts, Mayor Pete cannot win this battle. During the past 10 years leftist politicians, academics, and media have made overt racism acceptable when it is practiced against whites. It is generally accepted by the left that whites are inherently racist and anything an individual white person says or does is racist. By not immediately capitulating Mayor Pete is reaping the consequences of his own cultural and political belief system.
Did he do the usual “I’ll punish whites more” routine so beloved by establisment leftists and conservatives?
