Back in the 80’s, I spent 8 years actively working in politics local, state, and federal. I helped one of President Reagan’s subcommittees at the Dept of Education. I spoke out on Dallas TV, radio, and was interviewed in the Dallas newspaper. I had a wiretap on my telephone. We picked up the phone one day and there was a recording with “tape number, date and time.” Oops. Someone screwed up. I reported it to the FBI. What a joke right? When we moved from Dallas, the telephone repairman came in scratching his head and said, “there are a lot of extra wires in the phone box.”
:^) They are a lot cleaner today.
When I worked for network news in NYC in the 70's a NY Tel tech told me that there was a telephone frame in the basement of an upper east side high rise apartment building with a seal attached to one pair that said something like Do not touch. Sealed by order of the President of the united States ... The phone was in an apartment where Henry Kissinger housed a squeeze.
