President Trump approved military strikes against Iran in retaliation for downing an American surveillance drone, but pulled back from launching them on Thursday night after a day of escalating tensions.
As late as 7 p.m., military and diplomatic officials were expecting a strike, after intense discussions and debate at the White House among the president’s top national security officials and congressional leaders, according to multiple senior administration officials involved in or briefed on the deliberations.

No matter what he does, with the left, it’s wrong by default. It’s their knee jerk reaction to anything Trump.
Michael D. Shear, Eric Schmitt, Michael Crowley and Maggie Haberman should be in jail for sedition.
I think Trump just won reelection just with this one decision.
I have a good deal of confidence that Trump knows how overwhelmingly unpopular another war would be - not to mention how staggeringly detrimental to US interests!
My first thought is that this “attack plan” was discussed internally to see how quickly it was relayed to the NYT. A leak test?
Essentially, Trump got permission. Now they are on the negotiating table with Iran without danger of being yanked off. Chill. This isn’t a rush to war any more than Trump’s promise of “fire and fury” to North Korea.
Trump seized an opportunity to play on Iran’s own fears. The taunted state now has a missile pointed Iran’s way. This could jolt Iran back to reality. We’ll give up the drone — it is only a drone. But to Iranian eyes it is pride. Let’s see how calling Iran’s bluff works.

Maybe. In the big picture it matters little. Iran has spent much energy building up the idea of the USA as some demon monster. Now, said “demon monster” is poised to retaliate. Trump can get a lot of mileage out of one lost drone. I have heard of far worse investments.
The whole silly place is rogue. It hates the most generous country on earth.
Any Trump authorized bombing runs should be on the FBI.
If there is to be any type of action against Iran, or France, for that matter, do you really think MSNBCCNNABCCBSNBCFNCNYT will have a clue about it?

For all of the demented libtard caterwauling about how President Trump will get us into some kind of shooting wars with Iran and Mexico; he has been remarkably restrained in foreign policy matters. Far more so than his Peace at Any Price predecessor.
