If a attack was really in progress then civilian air traffic would have already been warned off before, not after the attack started. There would be too much risk of airliners getting shot down in the cross fire. That should be obvious to every journalist covering this story.

It is unlikely that the President would have already ordered a attack, not tell Pelosi about it, no matter what we think of her. Then he meets with her today, does not mention at attack at all, and then supposedly calls off a attack that is already underway. This is the same President who bombed ISIS out of existence while they hid around civilians.

This story doesn't fit with Trump's actions as President, or how Presidents and Congress make decisions over using the military. I'm thinking the NYT times story is either made up, or they are reading into what information they have what they want to believe.
