That was my first thought as well. In general, my feeling is that history is history. Don’t hide it or try to erase it.

But the mural is in a public high school. And I can see why black kids would find parts of it offensive. If I were on the school board, I would agonize over this. But in the end I’d vote to leave the mural alone.

And as a balance, on the opposite wall put a mural depicting the early civil rights movement. Harriet Tubman, etc.

I can understand that. OTOH:

- then they’ll complain that slaves’re NOT shown, either ignoring their “contributions” and/or their horrid plight in the horrid USA.
