I lived in Central Florida (Orlando) during the Apollo flights. With the Saturn I launches we could see the rocket visually from 50 miles away. I would watch the launch on TV and then run outside to get the real view as the rocket cleared the horizon. It was amazing.

When NASA started launching the Saturn V not only could you see the rocket but you could hear it. Wow 50 miles away and you could hear those powerful engines, what an experience!

WOW !!! That would have been awesome to see!!!

I’ve always been amazed at the camera shots of the Hold downs releasing and the Fireballs and the Nozzle vibrations in slow motion. I know that they use the H2O bath for helping cool things down but it’s amazing that the platform doesn’t melt.

You have FRMail.
