“JFK was a rock star; Nixon was a sweaty complainer.
And since Democrats were no where near as leftist
as today, I can’t imagine why your parents would be
that upset.”

Imagine.
My parents were Christians.
My parents were Republicans.
Rats weren’t as leftist then as now, but they were left of GOP then.

Being a “rock star” is how you pick your president?

It’s amazing the number of people where voting for the US President is still picking the prom king & queen?

Being portrayed as a war hero didn’t hurt.
My perspective in this is strictly neutral,
in that I wouldn’t be politicized for another
ten years. As military, JFK struck us as
a terrific CINC. So to us, he was a rock star.

My parents were Christians.

So they viewed JFK’s being Catholic as non-Christian?
Fear of having a president answer to the Pope was an
offshoot of the campaign, but I don’t know how seriously
anyone actually took that.

Well yeah. Much easier for the simple minded LibTards than studying policy and digging into the real nuts & bolts of the candidate.

Go on MTV, play a sax and discuss your underwear with a stranger - that's meaty stuff.
