RE: So can someone translate this gibberish? Is this good news or bad news for normal people?
For me, it is BAD NEWS. The Supreme Court ( unlike say, Roe v. Wade or Obergfell v. Hodges ) made a cowardly decision not to tackle an issue that affects the FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS of every American, ensuring further future lawsuits, instead of settling the issue once and for all.
It does seem, more often than not, those losers simply wimp out and refuse to do their effing jobs.
Every instance of kicking the can make the subsequent instances all the more easier.
“For me, it is BAD NEWS”
Not so, the lower court ruling that upheld the fine against the bakery owners was thrown out. Looks like Scotus is giving the lower court a chance to get it right before Scotus makes a final ruling.
This is not the first time. Having made the bed they are faced with the consequences of requiring all states to sleep in it, since by sanctioning homosexual marriage it is now illegal to not recognize it. At least if the dissenting party is a Christian.
So a black owner of a function hall may choose who he rents it to, denying it for a KKK event, and a artist for what cause he will pen a painting or song for, based upon morals, but a Christian florist cannot refuse to create an arraignment for a homosexual wedding, based upon morals, or the owner of a function hall to rent it for the same.
Which is simply not the same as refusing to serve blacks in a restaurant, for the denial in the cases mentioned is not based upon the race or the sexual "orientation" of the persons, but the expressed cause that the service is specifically for. To knowingly facilitate one to commit, or celebrate an immoral act - at least when the service is expressly for that - is to be complicit is the immoral act.
The problem is that the SCOTUS has essentially required all states and thus all businesses to immorally salute the flag of Sodom. Or face economic sanctions, at least.
A precursor of what see is to come,
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. (Revelation 13:16-17)
