That’s entirely up to the American importer. China makes what they are contracted to make - if the importer wants to skate by with cheap crap, then that’s what the Chinese will make for them. If the importer wants super high quality, China can do that now, too.
If the big stores are full of cheap crap it is because that is all their research departments are telling them Americans are willing to pay for.
Right an American made screw driver would cost $100, $200 even $300. The Chinese one costs $2.95 so I see your point. /sarc
