I’ve been warned that Memphis is now a black violence/drug center and to avoid it. Will do. It is a shame that a once great city has become a cesspool of leftist incompetence, racism, and crime.

I lived in Memphis and enjoyed the Fireman’s Riots in July 1978 in uniform. I traveled to Reagan’s Inaugural with Mayor Dick Hackett in 1985. When Hackett was replaced by Willie “HumP” Harrington Memphis went from an equal black and white city to a majority black city (~80% now) with a corrupt city council (I learned of much from the manager of the city council before she left) and crime riddled city. What I see now in Memphis are the children of those that rioted in 1978 and the grandchildren of those that rioted in 1968. The city is not safe, even on Beale Street where it’s supposed to attract tourists, the police have lost control. Mud Island closed because people leaving the venues there on the walk to the parking lot were left to feel like deer in a hunting preserve. The car jackings and robberies were numerous. The Mid South Fair had to move to Southhaven because the area where it was held wasn’t safe for the fair visitors to head to the parking lots. People from my city were caught in an out and out gang war going to the bus from the fair and yet there was no mention of it by the press or police. Now the crime is extending out to Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, Covington, and the environs. Most of the whites moved to DeSoto County, Mississippi.Memphis is a cesspool and God help them if the New Madrid moves.
