Having been to FL for work many times, the toll roads are havoc for we visitors and tourists. Sometimes you don’t know there’s a toll. Sometimes you need exact change. Once or twice, I admit, I just drove without paying - figured they’d bill my rental company. I like living in a state without toll roads.

Now there is nothing wrong per se with private roads charging a toll. State roads, well, I guess the citizens of the state have decided but my opinion is charge a gas tax to amortize the cost. The whole state benefits from roads whether you particularly drive on them or not. I live in a state that regularly pilfers all excise taxes for the general fund but if it were managed properly it is approximately equitable to charge some pennies per gallon to cover the costs of all roads and highways.

I like toll roads much more then gas tax. Plus we are a state tax free state so they have to make money somehow. I spend 20 bucks a month on tolls max.
