And what was the point in sending the FBI to investigate the American consulate in Benghazi after it had been looted and burned after Ambassador Stevens was killed? Did they really think they'd find anything useful, or was it just for the politics of the optics?

PJ...a whole bunch of us could probably go on for days about them. But, with regards to Benghazi, the State Dept has the Diplomatic Security Service. Why didn’t they do the investigation? Did the FBI show up and tell everyone in the room that, “We’re the FBI. We’re the only ones that can handle this investigation.”

Last time I checked, the military services all have investigative branches, Army CID, NCIS and OSI. They could have easily done the investigation and have all the toys and personnel to do it.

However, with all the corruption that has been uncovered, who were the folks in key, national leadership positions at the time? Did they need to make sure that things were done a certain way and knew they had loyal agents to make sure it looked good for the home team?
