The idea is, Mary is hailing Jesus for a Jesus sized problem.

I know that will be the loyal Roman Catholic defense in what is otherwise a somewhat biblical system.
I also know that I couldn’t have seen the power of God in any systematic way except through modern Protestant eyes, which has converged with Messianic Judaism.
If the people will not praise, God raises up the “stones” to do the praising, and that without missing a beat (as though He had been nonplussed).
Have some pity on these poor souls, as the only power they know is that of their idolic passion.
Instead of scathing them for their thin skin (that’s the devil’s side of the game), recognize it and tell them why it’s thin.
But anyhow, to get off of the head-to-head Protestant-Catholic clash, I’d like to recount with mixed amusement and hopeful joy a TV movie that I saw a few months ago about a somewhat rebelliously minded musical sister who, finally given scope for her passion, had her Catholic church rocking with praise within weeks. The nun mother was absolutely scandalized until the bishop smothered her with compliments for the revolution, which had been bringing in new congregants from all over that neighborhood! She even had found a way to work “My Guy” into the service, with quite a good theological application (confessedly, from my Protestant point of view, but the bible backs it up). God finds ways to peek out from behind human blinders in all manners of denominations. The only question He asks of the people is “Are you ready for this?”

I do believe the Holy Spirit is all-powerful and ceaselessly active, and always for the good.. We fail Him by not noticing. But He richly rewards those who are pinging themselves awake and paying attention.
Thank you, as I didn’t remember the title. I remember thinking oh boy, what if ANY church could get it on like that. Music is quite important in the Lord’s plan, and this is a Jesus who wasn’t reported to have done as much as sing, except maybe when the disciples sang hymns too. Maybe He was there with the doo-wops.
And it takes some considerable thinking outside of the box(es) that we’ve become accustomed to being in, to get there. But as we push beyond edges of the box, the devil is there pushing back... it takes some patience and the right divinely arranged circumstances. The Spirit definitely will coax if it’s something He wants, even though the devil endeavor to bring all hell against it.
