If they really wanted to end racial gerrymandering, or at least make it more difficult, they would remove race as a category on the questionnaire.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg warns of "sharp divisions" in upcoming Supreme Court cases...must mean the decisions are going in the conservative direction - when decisions go as the left wants, it's never divisive - only simply the obvious outcome as the law requires......

Critics argue that adding such a question could deter non-citizens from self-reporting, which in turn could lead to an undercount of primarily Hispanic voters in Democratic states. They are also concerned about the change in the immigration debate when it is documented that there are 40+ million resident non-citizens in the US. This is likely to get them openly considered non-serious when they trot out that old claim about 10-12 million illegals. Note that the majority of the resident non-citizens are legal residents, but deliberately conflating legal and illegal immigration is going to come back to haunt them.

How can justices interpret the Constitution so differently, unless some are being dishonest? And is there any question about which are being dishonest?

We need at least one, probably two more appointments before we have a reliably conservative Constitutionalist court.
