True story:
I have trout fished in the Smoky Mtns Nat’l Park all my life...Back in the ‘80’s I saw where PETA was holding a protest at Sugarlands Ranger Station against trout fishing...They were saying “Can’t you hear the poor trout screaming on the nd of the line?”
Normally, I release most all I caught...Only kept a ouple to et every now and then, but this day, I kept a nice rainbow about 10-11 inches long...
I went over to the station and PETA people saw me in my fishing gear and started in on me...”There’s one!!! There’s one of those fish killers!!!”
I reached into my creel and pulled out the still wiggling trout and said “Can you hear it scream?” and took a bite out of it’s side...
One girl screamed and threw up...The others gasped and started backing up and crying and yelling...
Fred Bradley, a ranger buddy of mine came out of the station, saw me and what I did, and said “Oh...It’s you...” and went back inside...
It was hilarious....
If this opportunity presents itself again, you can additionally announce that you are “Sméagol”.

I’m vacationing in Gatlinburg in August and, having never done it before, thought seriously about a guided trout fishing day. Do you have any recommendations or suggestions? Also, any not-to-be-missed ideas for things to do in the area would be appreciated.
