PHOENIX The man shot in the groin with a non-lethal weapon by police during a protest outside a 2017 Phoenix appearance by President Donald Trump intends to sue the city.
Joshua Cobin told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Friday that seeing Facebook posts by police officers that mocked the incident pushed him to file a precursor to a lawsuit this week.
The posts were in the news after this weeks release of the Plain View Project, a database of public Facebook activity by current and former police personnel in eight cities, including Phoenix.
The projects website says the posts and comments selected were related to race, religion, ethnicity and the acceptability of violent policing and could undermine public trust and confidence in police.
Cobin said hed been preparing the lawsuit for a while but was motivated to move ahead by the contents of the database.
He said he found three current officers along with many former officers who had made malicious, mocking posts about a citizen theyre supposed to be protecting and serving.
The Chandler resident, who lived in Scottsdale at the time of the Trump rally, said he was nauseous to learn he was a subject of some posts.
After I saw that, and seeing how officers who are supposed to protect and serve are mocking a private citizen on their public social media accounts, that really just galvanized me to file it, he said.
Pepper ball indeed.
That millennial @sshole snowflake is employed at GoDaddy (a company that employs a lot of little@sshole millennials). He had thrown and kicked tear gas canisters at the police. He initially had 19 felony charges filed against him.
He went to the Trump rally with the rest of the Antifa trash, and he went to cause trouble. He should be in jail for what he did.
Not to mention, law enforcement has no liability for damages caused during interdiction of an unlawful activity.
I’m reminded of a TV series in Idiocracy...
Add me as a defendant, snowflake.
LOL! I remember that when it happened. The fact that the idiot is trying to sue and is representing himself is even more funny. Some people are just gluttons for punishment.
I replayed that video over and over and over again laughing my butt off every time.
What the heck is that? is that rambo talk?
I hate when that happens.
Thank you. That’s still hilarious, a blast from the past, we might say.
This is absolutely my favorite version of Mr. Pepperballs. Turn Down For What! ROFLMAO when he hits the ground squirting his water bottle every where and kicking around on the ground like the fool he is.
Sorry but he walked into it. If they were aiming at him, it would have been before he moved. No case.
Ha! And then Colon Capernick raced to the rescue...
Double tap = shoot twice, just in case the first one doesn’t get the job done.
.40 should be obvious.
Spicy peanuts shoulda known better.
I give you double tap of .40...
Or, if you prefer concealed carry...
This is nuts.
Sounds like he thinks his lawyer has this case in the bag.
