The US has an agreement with Canada (safe third country) whereby asylum seekers must seek asylum in the first country they land in.

The goal, I believe, is to have such an agreement with Mexico. Thus, asylum seekers would have to apply for asylum in Mexico. They would be deported from the US.

Would it survive a court challenge? I don’t know. But the agreement with Canada hasn’t been struck down.

That is already enshrined in International protocols and treaties.

Mexico is ALREADY SUPPOSED to be doing that.
