I think that’s what it was when we renewed our DL in GA 2016. Our license had to have a certain emblem (a yellow star?) on it to be legal under the law.

IIRC some states hadn’t signed on to this requirement at the time but our state had. I showed up at the DMV (tag office here) to renew and didn’t have proof of my citizenship - passport/birth cert with me and had to return another day.

The birth certificate I’d always had was sufficient with the state (NY) seal on it but my husband’s from CA was not and our daughters from OH was not. They had to get certified copies acceptable to GA.

We thought it pretty odd that my husband’s was sufficient to get him into the Air Force in the fifties and security clearances in employment later but not for the new ID law.

So none of these people have to provide anything! No country or origin or anything? What do we do? Just make up the countries they are reported to be from? Apparently.
