Conservative columnist George Will is making the argument to vote against Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections.
In a piece published Friday in The Washington Post, Will says that President Trump's "zero tolerance" policy at the border was "the most telegenic recent example of misrule" and provided “fresh if redundant evidence for the principle by which” independents and moderate Republicans should vote.
That principle, he says, is that the number of Republicans in office must be “substantially reduced.” "The principle: The congressional Republican caucuses must be substantially reduced. So substantially that their remnants, reduced to minorities, will be stripped of the Constitution’s Article I powers that they have been too invertebrate to use against the current wielder of Article II powers," Will wrote. "They will then have leisure time to wonder why they worked so hard to achieve membership in a legislature whose unexercised muscles have atrophied because of people like them."

George Will is a Washington establishment self described conservative. Will is not a conservative. He Is a Trump hating establishment leftist. He supports the Democrats. The only Republicans he supports are dishonest losers like Romney and McCain.
In 2018 Will said that conservatives needed to vote for Democrats and give people like Pelosi, Nadler, Schiff and the others control of the House of Representatives.
In 2016, Will supported Clinton and opposed President Trump.

George Will is a great example of a man whose personal vanity and prejudices are far more important to him than any principles he ever claimed to hold. He was always a silly, self-important man who did conservatism no favors with his pontificating every weekend on ABC, and now he finishes his public career with a prolonged temper-tantrum against a president who is actually doing things conservatives want done.

Dear George,
Unfortunately, you are less intelligent and informed than you think, by at least half (likely more). The world is a big place, and Boston is but a small, sometimes delusional part of it. For the record, speaking slowly with diction, and wearing a bow tie are not the equivalent of having insight.
To move forward the world requires diversity of thought, and one never knows where the most salient thoughts will come from. To think they will always come from establishment self-identified intellectuals is a very large miscalculation. That you think this way, makes it appear that you are quite shallow, and not the ‘big thinker’ that seems to be an essential part of your self image.
It’s not too late. You can still learn, and perhaps add substantively to the debate that frames our future. You will, however, need to embrace and learn humility. Have a good night George.
