Lots of posters using the word “coward”, etc., speaking towards this sheriffs deputy, I wonder if these firebrands have ever advanced in the face of small arms fire? It’s very stressful and many people just don’t have it in them to do it. Granted those folks should probably not be cops.
Mostly SOP for police work these days is to establish a perimeter and send in specially trained swat units. What happened at Parkland wasn’t much different than what happened at Columbine High School nearly 20 years earlier. I dont recall any of the cops who didn’t rush in hunting the shooters at Columbinen were charged with crimes.
These charges seem bizarre to me, how can a cop be guilty of neglect? Is there any precedent for this?
I vote for former Sheriff Israel for being the scapegoat for Parkland, of course CNN would never go after a Democrat. I suggest Freepers not post CNN articles because of the well known very grave doubts about the accuracy and fairness of their “news” stories.
The coward Scot Peterson had the duty and the means to at least distract the killer and he chose to stay where he was and let the killer keep going. A stench in the nostrils of any real man (or woman).
And before you think of the “you will never know how you will react” stuff, I have faced fire, many times. 17 months in combat and I was severely wounded saving another wounded Marine. Been shot at plenty of times since then too.
There’s no way any man who is a man to just hang back when children are being murdered. He deserves all the punishment he can get.
