If we are once attacked with nukes and we fail to respond in kind we will be attacked again in the same way. The only ones who would dare use nukes today are the Muslims. In that event we get to chose upon whom we reign down Armageddon. I choose Iran and after we turn a few of their cities to rubble and reduce the rubble to sand and then reduce the sand to powder the Muslims will be silent for another 1300 yrs. We all know all the fanatics understand is overwhelming force. That said no one can deliver that more quickly and with more devastation then us.
Some forget that each of these nukes are controlled by software and spies are embedded everywhere. Unlike Russia or China, we allow foreign nationals to work on the back end on our defense systems. Even 2nd-3rd generation immigrants are often compromised and military contractors are full of them.
