Tillis should keep a wary eye over his right shoulder

Republican U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis might have torpedoed his own 2020 re-election bid in February, when he penned an op-ed for The Washington Post in opposition to President Donald Trump’s emergency border declaration. Time will tell.

Tillis’ high-profile defiance of the White House on an issue central to Trump’s election — and extraordinarily important among the Republican Party’s base — instantly spawned discussion of a primary challenge from the junior North Carolina senator’s right.

Reaction from fellow Republicans was swift and severe. Congressman Mark Walker, whose 6th District includes parts of Greensboro and Guilford County, said, “Voting with the Democrats on something this important — I don’t see where that helps him.”

Tillis is a supercilious retard. At a time when the Praetorians in the DOJ and FBI had Trump tied up in knots and were piling up kindling to do an auto-da-fe, Tillis added firewood to the pile. If he gets primaried, he had it coming.

They’re both POSs that should have been run off by now. But their corporate masters in the banking and building business keep them there. Issue is, with all the northern liberals moving down south, everywhere, these seats are becoming toss ups. I’m not saying either one should stay, but NC isn’t that RED anymore.

"...he penned an op-ed for The Washington Post in opposition to President Donald Trump..."

Anyone who writes for the WaPo instead of his own constituents is speaking for the Swamp, not for his voters. He's got to go!

What does one mean by “may have”? A candidate standing up for what is right should run against him. If his constituents like what he has done, they are at fault.

Can Tucker win in the general? I’m not sure Tillis can.

The article mentions Tucker but for name recognition and being someone absolutely diametrically opposite of Tillis, Mark Meadows should run to fill Burr’s seat. Tucker should first go to the US House, and then the Senate to take the Tillis seat BUT none of this matters as long as Mitch McConnell and his leadership team controls the RSCC. Their money goes to whoever bends over the quickest for McConnell. Tillis was distant second until Burr secured his blind allegiance to the Majority Leader. Same Majority Leader that has spent our grandchildren into bankruptcy and his I n laws determine his votes. Dump Mitch and the Senate Consevative Republicans would be unleashed.

Democrat Politicians are 100% loyal.

Tillis trails Democratic challenger by 7 points in North Carolina poll

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) trails one of his Democratic challengers by 7 points in North Carolina’s 2020 Senate race, according to a new poll.

Tillis, one of the more endangered Senate Republicans running for reelection, trails state Sen. Erica Smith (D) 39 to 46 percent in the Emerson College poll released Tuesday, while 15 percent of voters are still undecided.

Democrats view North Carolina’s Senate seat as a potential pickup opportunity in 2020 as the party seeks to chip into the GOP’s 53-47 majority in the upper chamber.

Beyond Smith, two other Democrats have launched bids to take on Tillis: former Mecklenburg County Commissioner Trevor Fuller and businessman Garland Tucker. Neither Fuller nor Tucker were included in the Emerson poll.

What’s your take on Tucker’s prospects in the general, assuming he wins the primary?
