Mexico's president on Saturday said he's open to negotiating with the United States after President Donald Trump threatened to slap tariffs on all Mexican imports over immigration.

"I believe we will be able to reach an agreement, because reason is with us," Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said at a news conference in Veracruz, insisting that Mexico wants to maintain a good relationship with the United States.

“Mexico wants to maintain a good relationship with the United States.”

What a lie. Over 30 years of letting their border stay wide open, doing nothing to stop illegals from streaming into the US, working with various agencies to promote emigration to the US.

What negotiation? Stop the border jumpers or be tariff'd to pay for them. There is no middle ground for compromise. What will Mexico suggest by way of compromise? That we only tariff 1% instead of 5% --- Mexico pays for one border jumper for every 5 that cross the line? Makes no sense.

How about making sure NO MORE ILLEGALS cross our border..Mexico wants them here, because they get welfare, food stamps, health care, etc..and they use that money and send it by Western Union back to their families in Mexico, boosting their economy..Mexico doesnt want to give that up

There are no negotiations to be made. Stop the illegals, or accept your punishment.

Mexico has been a spiritual enemy of the US for centuries. Anything good for the US, they have opposed, maybe quietly and behind a smokescreen, but opposed all the same. If a Mexican politician can find a way to stick to us, he will!!! We owe them nothing.

“Mexico wants to maintain a good relationship with the United States.”

What a lie.

Of course it’s a lie. Mexico will cry uncle but go back to its usual ways. Mexico will draw even closer to the Ruskys Chicoms and Iranian block. Look for the Mexican government to consolidate its ties with the Leftist Rino pols and the deep state agencies.

Mexico’s El presidente is a commie after all.

Trumps aim might be good but his strategy of going after everyone at once is flawed. The confederate generals and Napoleon knew you had to take on one opponent at a time. Even Churchill knew that the West couldn’t take on Stalin and Hitler at the same time.

The US/Mexican border is the only border
in the world between a first world and
a third world country. My refrigerator
full of burritos, chimichangas, and
salsa tells me which way the culture
flows.

Trump may be limited to just a couple more years.
He doesn’t have time to things serially.

It is important folks understand that they need us far, far more than we need them. It is a fact 80% of all the exports leaving Mexico are sent to us. Even a small reduction of the 80% would devastate their economy.

In a trade war with Mexico we hold all the cards and they know it. That is why the are scrambling to get this resolved. That letter to our president was just to save face. They will cave and do what must be done to maintain the trade relationship.

Mexico would starve without our help. They are incapable of self rule.

Correction, Mexico MUST maintain a good relationship with the United States. Without us buying their exports the Mexican economy collapses.

They promise to immediately stop publishing comic books, err... graphic instructions, on how to cross the border illegally.

Remember that, tariffs will continue "until such time as illegal migrants coming through Mexico, and into our Country, STOP."

Mexico needs to build that wall pronto!

The whole thing is non-negotiable.

Put a stop to it now and put the cockroaches on a forced march back to their home crapholes.

Tax the money sent or wired to Mexico through Western Union and the Banks.
