Letter to President Trump from from Mexican president Andres Obrador *translated*.
@realDonaldTrump ^ | 5/30/2019 | Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador

President Trump: social problems are not resolved with taxes or coercive measures. How to convert from night to morning to the country of fraternity to the world's migrants in a ghetto, is a space closed, where it is stigmatized, mistreated, persecuted, expelled and canceled the right to justice to those who seek with effort and work to live free of misery?

The Statue of Liberty is not an empty symbol. With all respect, although it has the sovereign right to express it, the motto "United States first" is a fallacy because until the end of time, even over national borders, justice and universal fraternity.

Specifically, citizen President: I propose to deepen in the dialogue, to suggest alternatives to the migration problem and, please, remember that I do not lack courage, that I am not cowardly or timorous but that I act by principles: I believe in the policy that, among other things, was invented to avoid the confrontation and the war.

I believe in the Law of Talien, in the 'tooth for tooth' or in the 'eye for an eye' because, if we go to that, we would all be ehimuelos or one-eyed. I think that the men of State and even more those of Nation, We are bound to seek peaceful solutions to the problems and to follow the practice, forever, the beautiful ideal of non-violence. Finally, I propose that you instruct your officials, if they do not has inconvenient, that they attend to representatives of our government, headed by the Secretary of Foreign Relations of Mexico, who from tomorrow they will go to Washington to reach an agreement in benefit of the two nations.

Nothing by force, all for the reason and the Right!

Your friend,

Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador President of Mexico

National Palace, Plaza de 10 Constitucion s/n, Patio de Honor, 06066 Cuauhtemoc, Mexico City

This is the translation of a direct copy from a picture of the letter taken from the twitter feed URL. It has gone through the Optical Character Recognition of Adobe Acrobat and then Google Translator. Its not perfect but the reader gets the point.

I can put up the Spanish text if someone asks for it. Also, if Ive missed something, please let me know. Thx.

Expelled sounds pretty good to me.

A real friend would not try to assert its citizens can choose if they care to follow our laws or not.

An invasion is not a social problem.

I believe in the principle of if they don’t keep the scum from sneaking into our country they will pay an increasingly high tariff until they are broken. Principles are good.

Oh, and since he believes in Lex Talionias I guess he’d be consistent and also agree if we should pass laws restricting the ability of Mexican nationals owning land in the States? You know, the way Mexico has with our citizens?

The Statue of Liberty welcomed LEGAL immigrants, she still does. Those who break the law are not welcome. If Mexico is so concerned with the wellbeing of these people then Mexico should take them in. It would be so much easier for the people to adjust in a country where their language is spoken, their customs understood and their way of life is familiar.

When the Statue of Liberty welcome the poor refuse etc etc there was no welfare benefits. You either worked or starved. If you sent your kids to school they either spoke English or the failed.

Until the rest of the world stops seeing America as community property (while seeing their own countries as sovereign entities worthy of protection and respect) they will never cooperate. And the only way to earn their respect is to muscle them into complete submission, because kindness and cooperation are just a sign of weakness to them. This is true of every pack of thugs out there, be they Mexican cartels, Islamic fundamentalists, or Chicoms. It’s all the same. They only respect strength.

This missive gets the "Bull-Crap-of-The-Day" award!

President Trump should just place it on the sidewalk in front of the WH and either burn it or take an obama on it...

Did you know the Statue was initially offered to Egypt as the sculptor wanted it at the entrance to the Suez Canal? Egypt wisely turned it down. Americans have always been suckers who foolishly wanted to beleive the best of others.

More winning! We need to stop other countries from exporting their problems to us via unchecked, illegal immigration.

This letter is not meant for Trump. It’s aimed at the public, the press and the people of Mexico and Central America. Obrador will communicate to Trump via negotiators he has already sent. Publicly calling out Trump like this and talking to him in such a condescending manner will not go over well and will undermine Obrador. I thought he was smarter than that.
