If the ship is undergoing repair, as the article stated, wouldn’t that be a valid reason to keep the ship out of sight? Scaffolding and heavy equipment do not make for a good military photo op. It could give adversaries the idea that our military assets are falling apart. That is not the best image to project about our military.
Not to mention the fact that sleeping sailors died because the Bridge somehow got the McCain schlonged by a tanker
