Foreign minister heading here with knee pads, a little sharp stick in a written statement is hardly worth notice.

Of course, that 5% tariff on oil is going to come out of the Mexican government’s share, not US consumers - that’s a huge chunk of change and will have immediate impact on Mexico’s budget.

If it climbed to 25% that would negate all of Mexico’s oil revenues. Money that they spend to buy votes... Mexico will simply stem the tide of transients entering their country as when faced with billions in losses, they’ll turn on their southern neighbors rather than face the issue at home.
