Mueller phrased and continues to phrase his remarks to facilitate this false conclusion by the press. He also appears to contradict himself, but in a way that casts Barr as the liar when Barr reports what Mueller told him, three times, emphatically.

It concerns me that Barr keeps using the phrase “hyper-partisan period”. As if he expects this too shall pass.

I'll add, it would be an easy enough position to take. "We and the grand jury found probable cause to believe the presidnt obstructed justice, but DOJ policy preculdes indicitng a sitting president." I mean, Starr found crimes by Clinton but did not indict. I know the legal framework Starr worked under was different from Mueller's, so Starr drrafting but not publiushing or filing an indictment is just academic curiosity - still, nothing prevents the DOJ from asserting it would indict a sitting president, but for the policy, all other elements being met.

"I’m sorry I read that whole thing. I’m a bit edgy over Barr’s seeming bending over backwards to let “Bob” slide and give him the benefit of the doubt. Barr is NOT a disinterested umpire. He’s been buds with “Bob” for 30 years, and ditto lots of others. So my apprehension is; Will Barr, et al, finnesse this thing so that “Nobody had evil intentions. Everybody meant well.” And so every one those bahstids gets a pass."
