Number one is trying to subvert the electoral college…

Subverting the electoral college has everything to do with promoting the power (democrat) of the cities at the expense of the flyover states. Popular vote in the name of democracy was correctly identified as a threat to the principals of the republic form of government being set up by the Founding Fathers. Attempts to allocate a State’s electoral votes based on popular vote are no different — just an attempt to get a foot in the door to weaken the electoral college.

I think it is important to realize that the states passing the ‘national popular vote’ scheme would never give their votes to a Republican who won the national popular vote. They would quickly change their laws and show no shame in doing so.
