Huber wasn’t assigned to do any further investigating. He was assigned to review what had been done and make recommendations as to what he concluded still needed to be done. Here is the authorization letter from Sessions:

A few months ago diGenova and Toensing mentioned that something “big” was brought to the limelight that was unfavorable to the Deep State. Soon after, someone asked Huber if he wanted the documents for his investigation. He said something like, “Oh, yeah. I guess I should have them so I’ll take them.” Then he was told, “We gave them to you xxx months ago.” Apparently he was doing nothing, reading nothing, investigating nothing, etc. He was a paid placebo.
