[Backup backup backup and test restore.]
Don’t tell that to the yokels I worked for years ago.
3 weeks (3 weeks) of backups for the AS/400.
LAN? Ha...peer-to-peer through a router.
Backups? Ha! None.
Antivirus software? Ha! None.
Admin set on PC’s to stop outside software from running? Ha! None.
TWO ransomware viruses in about 5 weeks.
Gee, what a shock. Not.
I imagine it keeps you employed :-)
Like the rumor that the anti-virus companies are behind the original virus codes. Spread the disease and then sell the cure.
What can we come to expect from government though? In this case I am speaking specifically of the Baltimore city government. Do they hire the best tech people in the region to design and implement their systems? I highly doubt it. They probably rely on in-house techs for most of projects; with government pay rank, and with political interference in the hiring process. If so, another example of (you name it) penny wise pound foolishness, government incompetence, government and political hubris... and more. They are experts at nothing but try to control everything.
And why? It makes no logical sense, it is just their nature to expand power, control, allocate resources as they wish and with the usual graft and favoritism, to justify a need to ask for more money from the citizens. It’s tiresome, and so obvious, and dreadful that more people don’t see it for what it is.
Sorry for the rant...
