China accuses U.S. officials of misleading public on trade war (blah, blah)

BEIJING, May 24 (Reuters) - China on Friday accused U.S. officials of lying to the public about their trade war, as rising tensions between the world's two largest economies kept financial markets in a state of unease.

Talks to end the trade dispute collapsed earlier this month, with the two sides in a stalemate over U.S. demands that China change its policies to address a number of key U.S. grievances, including theft of intellectual property and subsidies for state enterprises.

China has been badly abusing the worldwide trading system for the last 30 YEARS.

Trump, do something please.

Not tiny tariffs. Raise them. Significantly. Like to 250 percent.

Now.

Wished that it were that simple. Just look at the cowboy hats in the Oval Office yesterday. They are farmers who fear the loss of substantial markets for what they produce. This is why the unadulterated crap we’ve had for presidents in modern times decided on letting China f*ck us as the path of least resistance.

The Chinese are smart enough to know that the US media will gladly run a propaganda campaign against Trump for them.

Farmers will not be impacted beyond what they are now.

There is a limited amount of food grown in the world.

If China won’t buy from America, they will buy from somewhere else.

America will simply sell, to the somewhere else.

It is not complicated.

That is so. Hence the trip to Japan.

The Japanese used huge amounts of Soy products.

Consider this for PDJT action:
Creation of SOYPEC
Soybean Producing Exporting Cartel
US and Brazil produce 70% of the world’s soybeans
This is leverage
Include Argentina and India and that’s 84% of the world’s soy production.
This is leverage of EPIC proportion.

China never misleads the public. They just block unwanted servers on the internet.

My take is tariffs alone would not solve a thing.
What US has for export China doesn’t already import? Apart from a few airspace stuff US only exports food and raw material and imports everything else.
The technology transfer is a problem but in most cases it is a willing decision of involved businesses. They have numerous examples of Chinese stealing processes from other businesses but still move on based on greed. Establish laws to punish such activities and make it an issue of law enforcement. The same is true with outright Chinese industrial espionage. Establish better rules for foreign labor in hightec. Toss FBI from politics and make them do counterintelligence.

“There is a limited amount of food grown in the world.”

Quite true, and truer still for Soybeans and Pork, which I understand to be China’s major purchases in commodities. We “own” the Soybean Market, with Brazil #2. If the Chinese buy from Brazil, Brazil’s current customers will have no choice but to buy from us because there really isn’t a #3 with a market share that approaches what China imports. So as you point out, it’s a zero sum game where the Chinese can’t win unless they expect their people to starve. It is time for the US to bring China to heel, and I don’t think anyone other than DJT has the balls to do the job that’s necessary. We’ve seen what the feckless Clintons and Obamas have done along with the “ballless” Booshes.

They are communists. I don’t give a rat’s patootie what they think or what they say.

It doesn’t mean I don’t respect their industry they have built up or their burgeoning military.

I do.

We gave them all that money to do that. And we have jackasses in our country, in our government, and even here on FR that think Communist China is the best thing since sliced bread.

The bottom line is they are still communist jackbooted thugs. In living memory they have murdered tens of millions (if not hundreds of millions) of their OWN citizens, and will do it again if they think there is a reason they have to do so.

We should treat them as the snakes they are. I am not advocating war.

I am advocating not rolling over for them anymore.

“They are farmers who fear the loss of substantial markets for what they produce.”

Commodity products are the easiest of all to substitute. Customers (like China) can easily buy from alternate suppliers, but suppliers (like US farmers) can also easily sell to different customers.

There won’t be much real change to supply and demand, just a bit of musical chairs bout who ships to who.

“Not tiny tariffs. Raise them. Significantly.”

You have been calling for this for some time, but it looks like you are starting to get your wish.

The recent package is starting to bite pretty hard into communist Chinese business, and especially future investment. The new money, and the production lines for the new products, are already going elsewhere.

The next package of tariffs will be ready to drop in just a few weeks. It is a serious gun to the head of the Chinese economy - pretty much a guaranteed recession. Party over (no pun intended), if and when President Trump signs that memo.

Each package has been about twice as big as the one before it, and each seems to come quicker after the one before it.

With this last package that was just imposed, we have gone beyond the warning phase, and are now into the major muscle movements of ripping the supply chain out of communist China.

It is the Year of the Pig, and we are going to hear some real squealing before its over.

Any business that currently imports from China or has product manufactured in China is negligent unless they’ve already made plans that don’t include China. One thing is certain, the competitors of these negligent businesses aren’t making the same mistake. The quick and the nimble businesses are the ones that will succeed and prosper.
