There is nothing wrong with the Electoral College, - It has worked since 1787. It isn’t going anywhere.
They think that is the only way they can win.
Besides the structural reasons, it is important to limit the damage that can be done by ballot box stuffing. California alone is capable of adding 10 million fraudulent votes.
If the left succeeds to turn the Republic into a pure democracy it will speedily become the Cities enslaving the rest of the country.

They don’t need to change the EC. They can and will use vote fraud and manufacture to win it all in 2020. The big cities will produce enough votes to overwhelm the rest of their states. Cities, where “necessary,” will manufacture as more votes than they have population and the Republicans will not resist but will accept whatever vote count is announced. They tried it out in 2016 and 2018 and got no actual blowback, no penalty. They will do it nationwide in 2020. Th Left believes that they had reached the level of total control with Hillary’s election and were foully cheated in 2016 and that that will be rectified in 2020.
This would be a good model for at least some of the other 48 states to adopt . . . and for the same reason.

As posted above, it’s worked fine for a good long time. There is no need to abandon it now.

Just tell them in the simple terms they can understand - Democracy was invented by Ancient Greeks; it lasted 182 years. And has never been tried again in over 2300 years... for a reason: it does not work.

Correct. One of the primary concerns of any balloting systems is to make it difficult to cheat, even given concerted efforts by insiders. A national popular vote means a handful of "ballot factory" counties would tip the scales. With the Electoral Collage, it doesn't matter how many fraudulent votes are cast in New York City, LA, or Chicago. Each state's weight in the election is the same no matter the margin of "victory".

I’m guessing the balloon will go up before it comes to that. What we don’t know and is impossible to state at this point with certainly is what succession will look like. There are many scenarios that can be conjured up. We shall see, maybe...
So they’ll have more pro-Democrat votes. Everybody know that. That’s why they oppose voter I.D. and the border wall too.
The number of states using the popular vote to award ec votes is more than we should be comfortable with. This is taxation without representation.
