Not sure hostage is the correct term, there's significant support for either Fatah or Hamas. They get their pick of terrorists.
The Arab people in the West Bank and Gaza have a majority who are very ignorant sheeple and they have been totally indoctrinated in the beliefs that all their problems stem from the existence of Israel and nothing is the fault of the decisions of their leaders. In that sense their leaders have “held them hostage”; hostage to the leaders agendas for power for themselves, which requires continued indoctrination of their sheeple.
