I thought Brazil, Costa Rica, and some of the Caribbean tax shelter islands were in that category??? I can't swear that the list is 100% accurate, but every one I have checked it's turned out to be right. It comes from Wikipedia (which is usually pretty good for non-political articles).
Here are the specifics on the locations you mentioned. I looked up an article "Top 10 Offshore Tax Havens in the Caribbean" to get the additional ones that met your specification.
- Brazil and USA extradition treaty Signed, 1964: New York Times: Treaty on Extradition Is Ratified by U.S. and Brazil
- Costa Rica and USA extradition treaty signed, 1982. Cost Rica Law site: The United States and Costa Rica Extradition Treaty
- The Cayman Islandsand The British Virgin Islandsand Anguilla have the same extradition laws controlled by the same treaties as for Great Britain as a whole.
- The Bahamas and USA extradition treaty of 1994: Extradition from the Bahamas
- Panama and the USA have had an extradition treaty since 1904, it's not as broad as some others. Not all crimes are included. Panama USA Extradition Treaty
- Dominca, "Often confused with the Dominican Republic, the Commonwealth of Dominica has initiated legislation that facilitates the creation of offshore corporations, trusts, and foundations, providing tax-friendly and privacy-protected offshore banking services." Dominica has an extradition treaty with the United States dating to 1996.
- The Dominica treaty was part of a larger effort to bring all these little nations into having treaties on this, with the EXTRADITION TREATIES BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND THE GOVERNMENTS OF SIX COUNTRIES COMPRISING THE ORGANIZATION OF EASTERN CARIBBEAN STATES.
Those countries are:
- Antiqua And Barbuda
- Dominica
- Grenada
- St. Lucia
- St. Kitts and Nevis
- St. Vincent and the Grenadines
- Belize signed an extradition treaty with the USA in the year 2000.
- Barbados, which I've heard has a very fun carnival celebration like New Orleans, has an extradition treaty signed with the USA in 1996, like so many on this list.
SO, it seems like the idea of the tax-haven cum extradition free Carribean tropical paradise was a reality in many places until the late 1990s, when we set about closing the extradition loopholes. One assumes it was part of the War on Drugs.
Getting back to the original topic of Where are the Obama-Clinton crime families and their associates going to go it's a not a very attractive list (back there in post #135) is it?
Somehow Vietnam seems a fitting place for them to live out the rest of their wretched lives, perhaps under some sort of house arrest and long term interrogation.
I kind of liked Andorra, you could probably slip into Spain or France on occasion and I speak good Spanish and a little French. Also I like mountains. Of course, at 80 I have no intentions of doing anything stupid requiring fleeing. Thanks for all your research.
