Am I the only one who reads this as ... well, meaningless?
So, Trump has instructed the “intelligence community” to co-operate with Barr.
Does our so-called “intelligence community” really NEED that directive to co-operate with the Attorney General? Really?
And what happens if they just pull their USUAL deep state shit and just say “oh, we couldn’t find anything” or “we lost that” or “we erased that” or “screw you, we’ll do whatever we want and if you don’t like it we’ll pull the file on every one of your family members.”
There is a special prosecutor digging into the intelligence community’s role in Spygate. I’m sure he’s watching closely how they(IC)handle this.
What appears to be different, is that Barr has requested this
To me, that seems like he already has some things in the pipeline that could be released real soon.
I know that’s a lot of “could, seems, and appears”, but it is a shot across the bow
Yes, they do need to cooperate. If they don't, after having been told to cooperate, they face obstruction of justice themselves. And if my understanding is correct, President Trump has all the intelligence anyway, so now is NOT the time to try to stall.
There is already plenty that even Congress has seen in private. It’s out there. All Barr has to do is declassify it. I suspect enough to convict a few folks.
It will likely be quite some time before the public sees anything. When they do, they will see it through the MS filter for the most part.
Reading the Presidents directive, the answer is YES.
Today, at the request and recommendation of the Attorney General of the United States, President Donald J. Trump directed the intelligence community to quickly and fully cooperate with the Attorney Generals investigation into surveillance activities..."Reading this, it's obvious Barr has gone to the President and told him that he is not getting cooperation in his investigative efforts. With this delegated authority from POTUS, failure to comply would be obstruction of justice. Not that FBI/CIA/NSA will cooperate, but Barr seems pretty determined. This does raise the stakes.
Haspel and Wray should be fired and prosecuted at the first sign of further obstruction or delay. Short of that, this is just more talk.
