Investigation Clears Ralph Northam Of What He Admitted Doing

RUSH: I don’t know if you’ve heard this or not. (Southern accent) “Ralph Northam, the governor of Virginia — who has admitted to posing in a yearbook for medical school in blackface, as in a minstrel show. He admitted it!

“He has been cleared of doing it by an investigative board at the school. Despite him admittin’ that he had done did it, the investigating board say he didn’t do it, and so case closed. Ralph Northam free now to kill babies after they born and did not appear in blackface in the yearbook.” See how Democrat investigations get closed out? This Ralph Northam investigation just took a couple of months, and — even though he admitted that he did it — the investigative body said, nope, he didn’t do it, and the investigation is over.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now, the medical school… I got a lot of emails during the break from people who didn’t believe the Ralph Northam story. The medical school where (Southern accent) “Governor Northam graduated did an inves’igation and cannot conclude if Northam was indeed the person in blackface in the photo, even though Northam said it was himself. So based on this investigation, the story is now over. Northam is free and clear to kill babies after they have done been born — and he also, at the same time, is not a flaming racist.”

See how the Democrats handle these things, circle the wagons, just like when Dan Rather got his comeuppance here. They gave him an award and saved the business.

"...Ralph Northam cleared..."

If one is inclined to do horribly despicable things in their life, it really is pretty sweet to be a leftwinger.

Rush is usually better than this. First, Northam never “admitted” to being in the picture. He APOLOGIZED for the picture, and the next day said it wasn’t him in the picture.

Second, the investigation did NOT clear him. The investigation said they could not determine if it WAS him (which we all knew, you can’t see the face of the KKK guy, and the blackface guy is two non-descript to really pick out facial features).

The explicitly said that they could not find ANY evidence that someone else took the picture, or any way that a picture submitted by someone else could have ended up on Northam’s page. They also couldn’t find anybody who remembered Northam being in the picture.

POintedly, but not mentioned — they did not find anybody who would admit to being either of the two people in the picture. They in the end simply said the answer was unknowable.

Lost in all this, is that Northam ADMITTED using blackface for a Michael Jackson dance contest, and AG Herring ALSO admitted to doing black face, although we never saw pictures of either of those two.

Lastly, the investigation revealed that many people knew about this picture, including the people who run the school, who debated whether to say something when Northam ran for office, but decided not to, in order to not damage him politically.

(CNN)Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam confirmed Friday he was in a racist yearbook photo showing one person dressed in blackface and another in the KKK's signature white hood and robes, and apologized for "the decision I made to appear as I did in this photo and for the hurt that decision caused then and now."

Maybe it’s trick photography and he’s both of them.

Well, it is CNN. As Northam said the next day, also reported by cnn:

"Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam said he does not believe he is either person in the racist photo that appeared in his 1984 yearbook but that he did once darken his face to resemble Michael Jackson during a dance contest in 1984."

Yes, it was a change to his story; he had previously apologized for the picture in a way that sounded like he was certainly in it; he later said he found the photo offensive, but had to discuss with his classmates about whether he had ever done such a thing.

In fact, one could say that he tried apologizing because he thought it would work since he is a democrat; however once he realized that the offended groups wanted the black lt. Governor to take his place, he called around, made sure nobody else could remember anything, and then said it wasn't him.

Meanwhile, even after he denied being in the picture, and instead admitted to doing blackface at ANOTHER time in public, most elected democrats were calling for him to resign.

But when the AG Herring ALSO made the same confession when he learned someone had found out about HIS blackface, the same leaders did NOT call for him to resign.

2 reasons: First, Northam can't run for Governor again, and neither senator wanted him to think he'd could run for THEIR seats. But the AG is supposed to move up, so they didn't want to harm his chances.

Second, Northam, for all his changing positions, isn't exactly the most liberal democrat around. Herring is. So they were willing to throw Northam out, but not Herring.

Of course, once they found out that the Lt Governor was quite possibly a rapist, they stopped asking Northam to resign, because they certainly didn't want to spend this fall explaining why they worked so hard to put an accused man into the Governorship.

Northam’s admission was also reported in the Washington Post and the New York Times.
