By all accounts Lillian Gish was a wonderful, humane, caring person. She had such a long, active film career, never really retired. She is rightly considered among the greatest American movie actresses.

"Birth of a Nation" is considered a great film, also the birth of modern movies. D.W. Griffith went to painstaking efforts to document everything is that film as true, and as an accurate depiction of the times. If people don't like the story, then they have a problem with the truth.

In 1992, the Library of Congress deemed the “Birth of a Nation” as “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry.

How long before that is revoked and all copies ordered destroyed?
