When female soldiers were assigned to previously all male units, I never saw a female soldier in my office, including in the field, without the presence of either the Command Sergeant Major or the Adjutant. I told the company commanders and the First Sergeants to do the same.
What I saw was often unstable or erratic individuals new to the military who viewed the situation at least at one level, as a way to exert power. The mere accusation of impropriety was basically a career ender.
Fraternization exists, rape, everything don’t misunderstand, but what I saw firsthand at the unit level was at minimum an equal percentage of false accusations. Females in many, if not most fields, was a huge mistake and everyone knows it. Young men and women in close quarters is pure insanity, from a force readiness perspective. Don’t get me wrong it’s a lot of fun, but anybody in a leadership position would have told the service chiefs that. Now today of course it’s basically illegal to point out the truth. Again, women in the military play a vital role but forcing them into combat arms and other similar fields was as stupid as it gets.
