As every Master Gardener knows, of equal or greater importance than familiar plants is the cultivation of unfamiliar vegetables for their added nutrutional value to the consumers of community gardens.

OK, I get it. Cauliflower is white and no one really likes cauliflower, so it goes to the bottom. But would carrots get racial preference over snap peas? How about turnips and parsnips? Potatoes? All white veggies, so they go to the bottom of the list too, I suppose.

I guess MS Greenthumb doesn’t realize that most plants that are culturally familiar to central and South Americans probably will not thrive in an outdoor garden in New York City due to temperature and soil conditions. There is a reason why those plants do not grow wild in that region. Also dumb*** doesn’t seem know that yucca is native to North America but only certain types will grow in the NYC region where they have grown for thousands of years.
