Yes, so the question is:
Did the 6th fleet and others in the area request permission to assist? Or at the very least, inquire as to what they should do?
If not, why not?
If they did, what was the response, if any, they got back and who ultimately made that decision?

Right, that was the day after the Benghazi attack.
I'm sure they got some type of permission but they weren't going there to engage in any ongoing or immediate action. As the article says they were there to "beef up security."
"A Marine anti-terrorism team based in Rota, Spain, is on the ground in Tripoli to beef up security at the U.S. Embassy in Libya... "
They didn't need the same "cross-border authority" to do that. They were not an In Extremis team.

Those are good questions.
We do know what the response was and who made the decision. The response was do nothing and the decision was made by 0bama. He was the only one with the authority to make it so there really can be no doubt about that.

You're very welcome! It was/is a complicated mess. a) because Hillary made a huge mess of it months before the attack and b) because the Dems and their press lackeys purposely laid down lots of smoke after the fact. They certainly did nothing to clarify any of the points we're talking about.
