John Durham, the prosecutor tapped by Attorney General William Barr to investigate how Trump-Russia allegations emerged and spread within federal law enforcement, has already been looking into whether the FBIs former top lawyer, James Baker, illegally leaked to reporters.
In fact, the U.S. attorney from Connecticut appears to have begun that work more than seven months ago, to judge from an underreported transcript of an October congressional interview with Baker. The Baker interview, at which Durham was not present, suggests that the prosecutor nevertheless has some people very worried.
Baker testified about the Trump-Russia affair on Oct. 3 before the House Judiciary Committee and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
In that session, the former FBI general counsel admitted that versions and variations of Christopher Steeles dossier were being turned in to the bureau from the strangest of places. Baker said he had even heard about it from David Corn, Washington bureau chief of left-leaning Mother Jones, who wrote one of the first pieces on the dossier, in October 2016. But in one of those company-town connections that happen frequently in Washington, Baker said he was not just a contact or source for Corn; they were also old pals.

“the U.S. attorney from Connecticut appears to have begun that work more than seven months ago”
So a Whittaker appointment?
Seven months ago? And no indictments yet?
Why do all the Newsies keep saying that Barr appointed him?
So far, it's par for the course for Mr. Sessions if he is the one that authorized it and standard procedure for any official (Comey, Sessions, Wray, etc.) to claim "under investigation" to avoid the truth from coming out. Couldn't be for the purpose of running out the clock on the statute of limitations, could it? From the article:
" Levin said. Given that there is an ongoing investigation of him for leaks which the Department has not closed, I'm not comfortable letting him answer questions.

David Corn tells RealClearInvestigations. Corn emphasizes that the "Durham inquiry did not involve Russia or the Steele memos; it had nothing to do with me or my limited interaction with Baker."

Contacted by RealClearInvestigations, Levin said, Mr. Baker did not make an unauthorized disclosure of classified information and we are confident the investigation will conclude that.
My guess is Durham took over the Investigation from Huber who started the Baker Investigation t the request of Sessions.
We already knew Baker was under investigation for leaking and DiGenova is reporting that Durham has been on the job for 2 months
There has been some suggestions that Huber has been a phony and Durham has been brought in to prosecute
This “charge of LEAKING to Reporters” is just CRAP! Baker was in on the TREASONOUS COUP PLOT!!
Theyll get whats coming. Probably a cell right next to Lois Lerner.
Well it appears that Whittaker did technically appoint him to investigate the leak. That being said Barr has vastly expanded Durham’s mandate as to what he can and should investigate.....Basically anything done by the CIA, FBI, NSA, etc. before or after Trump’s inauguration.
Small but good start, but there are several leak investigations underway. Now do obstruction of justice, treason, and lying to Congress.
“Why do all the Newsies keep saying that Barr appointed him?”
Before he was investigating FBI General Counsel James Baker for leaks, and supposedly AG Barr then expanded his assignment t include the origination of the spying on the Trump Campaign.
