April 2019 National Instant Background Check (NICS) Number is new Record

In April 2019, the National Instant Background Check System, (NICS), recorded the highest number of background checks for April. There were 2,334,249 NICS checks in April 2019.

It is important to note many of the background checks done by the FBI in the NICS system are for state carry permits of various kinds. In the NICS statistics kept by the FBI, there are categories for NICS permit checks and permit rechecks. The popularity of gun carry permits at the state level has resulted in more than half of all NICS checks being carried out for the purposes of permits and permit rechecks.

The NICS permit checks in April of 2019 were 817,967. The permit rechecks for April of 2019 were 494,527. The total permit and permit rechecks were 1,312,494. The total non-permit background checks were 1,021,715.

The NICS permit checks for April of 2018 were 926,928. The permit rechecks for the same month were 193,194. Together they totaled 1,120,192 in April of 2018. The total NICS checks for April of 2018, the last record April, were 2,223,213.

The increase of total NICS checks from April of 2018 to April of 2019 was 111,036.

The increase in carry permit and permit rechecks was 192,302. Thus, while NICS checks overall were a record, the number of permits and permit rechecks are growing so fast they mask a slight drop in NICS checks for gun sales.

I have seen pictures of MI deer - in addition to being larger, yours have great racks!

Thanks for being our subject matter expert. In the history of the world, armed legties mean extreme suffering and persecution first of Christians and Jews, then to everyone else.
Everyone for freedom should be taking note.. something more evil than the 60s os brewing.

My son got a P+Y buck last fall out back in my woods. He said the buck that was with the one he shot could have fit his buck’s rack totally inside without touching.

That one sensed something wrong and wouldn’t come close enough for a shot.

He’ll be back this year, and maybe your son will get the shot!

“He’ll be back this year, and maybe your son will get the shot!”

I hope not, it cost $600 to get the one he shot last year mounted.

You hunt in the #1 county in MI. I’d wager that you’d be happy to pay $600 + for a Boone and Crockett Club entry!

I have two of them already, but another couldn’t hurt.

This spring I had a bachelor group of 18 bucks in the garden and some were pretty good size. No antlers at that time but about 10 of them looked like they would be 8 point or better by this fall.

Don’t have to travel too far to get your trophy bucks, do you?

Nope, I drive my Kawasaki Mule from the barn to the blind in my woods.

I have winch set-up to load the deer into the Mule where I gut them out, then I wash them and hang them in the barn. I never have drag them or lift anything, they go from the ground where I shot them to the Mule, to the chain-fall hoist in the barn.

In the basement I have butcher tables, commercial meat wrappers and grinders.

I think the limit is 7 deer a year? It might be unlimited now? I seldom shoot over three anymore.
