I live here in the swamp in DC. The rich here don't drive the economy. They skim the economy and flow a sufficient percentage back to the politicians to keep the game going.

You just happened to pick a corrupt place to live. I know a few rich people and none of them attend political events. One friend employs over 150 people...they do drive the economy. For those who do play the system, is that their fault or the fault of the politicians who let it be known that they can be bought?

Buying a politician is not really in the spirit of free market capitalism. You buy the politician to evade the harsh realities of the marketplace.
