dads and their daughters, about as tough as it gets....
The latter is the more likely outcome. There are many foreign companies, including American, manufacturing items for the US market in China. Relocate to America and there are no tariffs. We saw that impact when the US put a 25% tariff on light trucks (and SUVs) in 1964, the so-called "Chicken Tax." It is still in effect, which is why Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, Honda, etc. relocated their factories to the US to assemble these vehicles.
The problem with broad range tariffs is the message they might be sending is Americans are willing to pay more... the worst message possible.
I don't buy the Wall Street argument that Americans will be paying that much more for products due to the tariffs. That has not been the case with the steel and aluminum tariffs. The bigger question is what happens to China when it can't sell to the US? What other markets can replace the US? The US exports to China totaled $129.9 billion; goods imported from China totaled $505.5 billion. The US exports to China make up a fraction of our $20 trillion economy.
During the most prosperous periods in American history, we had high tariffs to protect our industries. The free traders have convinced many that their way is the only way. We have seen the results and they are not pretty.
Horowitz is essentially a career employee of DOJ.
Kim is a tool of the Chinese. They use him against us for a variety of reasons. Kim and his regime could not exist without Chinese support.
I must say that Lindsay Graham gave Maria a great interview. He knows what he’s talking about, he listed his points.
I understand about Venezuela.
I know the issues on immigration and wonder how the hell the Democrats oppose such common sense as, say, applying for asylum in the American consulate in their own country.
Kudos to Lindsay Graham.
Where you been guy?
Happy Mothers day to all the fine Freepers on the forum as it applies to you individually or your wife, mom etc.
A fine group of people representing all that’s good about our country
We go to a brunch in Key West in a few hours sort of a yearly sourn we make here, really good times.
Have a great time.
We like to go to Blue Heaven when we visit, and dine outside on the picnic tables with the chickens wandering about.
All good points but my guess is that Trump has chummed the dems right up to the stern of the boat and hes ready to throw the castnet on them.
Great analogy. Lets hope he has many filet knives ready to properly slice and dice them and throw the carcass to the waiting sharks, never to be seen again....
Here's my side yard looking out my den door a few minutes ago...
The trees and bushes are all droopy wet. I really need to cut the grass. Too wet all week.
you would know better than i but how big an issue is losing face in their part of the world?
You mean... to help a nobody LOSE.
We have brought in 35 million legal permanent immigrants since 1990, which is the equivalent of the current population of Canada. They are all current or future legal voters. Immigrants and their American born children drive 80% of our population growth. This year, 2019, marks the first time that half of the children 18 and under are minorities as defined by the USG. By 2043 non-Hispanic whites will be 50% of the population, down from 63% today and 89% in 1970.
(there's no such thing as "the popular vote")
The popular vote decides the electoral outcome in each state. When you look at the electoral map, the Dems enjoy a critical advantage that will only grow as the demographics of this country continue to change. I watched VA become a solid blue state from a red state. NV, CO, NC, and AZ are headed in the same direction. You can put your head in the sand and blame it all on illegal aliens and voter fraud. That just isn't the case.
300 restaurants in key west so many good ones,i ate breakfast there really cool place.
for sure but that does not rule out him being a tool of the company either...he could play both sides.
It's correct that we need to let those burn, and we also need to set appropriate fires when it is safe to do so. The facts are that natural fires burned over 4 million acres in Calfornia each year prior to 1800, and both manmade and natural fire is restricted by insane air pollution regulations. In Butte County they only allow 5,000 acres to burn at one time during the very short safe burn season after the rains stop and before summer heat dries out the forest too much for safe burning. In those few weeks to a month or two the forests need to be burned, and 5,000 acres taking a few days to burn is woefully inadequate in a county of over a million acres.
Furthermore those insane regulations apply to all lands including federal. As you pointed out there are many other solutions besides burning. But left to its own, California forests will burn. Refusal to accept the fact of fire is insanity. In particular the 2016-17 rainy season had record rains and 2017 and 2018 fires were a direct result of the undergrowth. Fires were needed early in 2017. A lot of California is too steep for mechanical fire control like thinning. A transition from pine to hardwood is inevitable in many locations and the recent fires are a step in that beneficial direction.
Lol just too good!!
Halftime. MC and the Reds up by one. MC has the easier opponent. Can only hope for a miracle. Can’t wait for the June 1 match. Going to a local pub with my Liverpool kit on. Go Reds!! You’ll never walk alone.
Lots of greenery hard to beat bud!
I still don’t trust Graham on anything.
Good stuff this is why we desperately need those from other countries like Irina Vilarino who have seen just how bad communism and socialism so they can set an example of othehrs who have not seen the light.
Patriots like Irina are the dems worst nightmare.
