During the late '70s and the '80s, Islamic terrorism was generally referred to by the very accurate term of "Islamic fundamentalism". The terrorists were called "Islamic fundamentalists". Those were accurate terms that told us the terrorists believed the fundamental teachings of Islam.
But that gradually become politically incorrect and Islam became a religion of peace and anyone who said otherwise was Islamophobic. And any terrorists, who happen to be Muslim, became "radical extremists" having no connection to peaceful Islam.
The deeply cynical part of me, the one I battle to suppress daily ( minutely), says in some profound primitive ways men under Islamic law men have it pretty good compared to the pussified western man of the 21st century.
