I wonder how Universal Background Checks would work.
My father dies and leave me his guns,
Who makes me take a background check?
And do they have to pass a background check to even possess them before they give them to me?
And why would we do it anyway, since the government has no record of these heirlooms to begin with.
Oh well... all hypothetical anyway since they all went down with that leaky boat of Dads
I THINK what you outlined (passing from parent to son) is currently illegal...if found out.
Depends on the state, currently.
In CA, in about 1 more generation, there will be no way for you to have a gun that is not in the registration system.
Illegal to smuggle in, and all inheritances will be via the state system (which catches all Grandpa’s WWII items).
Fed is not like that (yet).
